“Dragon Sukuro-ru: Reflections” is starting this week!

Some of you, particularly those who followed this website from the beginning, may remember that I had just come off of producing, co-writing and c0-directing a local public access no-budget martial arts show back in 2010. Well, it didn’t turn out as well as I wanted, but piqued my interest in martial arts films, which is what got this website created. Now, as I prepare to get behind the camera again, I thought I would revisit the show, and talk about things that went right…and things that went wrong from my end as a first time screenwriter and director and what I took away from it.

The episode will be cut into pieces and shown a bit at a time, with various comments by me. Feel free to chime in the comments and let me know what you think. I’ll be interspersing my reviews this week along with the show. For now check out the trailer, shot by my producer Fred Ford, myself, and cameraman Fernando Ortiz.

  1. Cool looking site, love the layout. Had a question for you that I thought you may be able to answer due to your impressive site detail. How do I go about getting more than one advertisement on their wordpress.com page? I have wordads, but it only puts a video at the bottom of my newest posts. In addition, I really like how you have them on the right side of your site and in other places as well. I’d appreciate any advice, and once again, GREAT WORK!

    • Thanks! I put a lot of work into the site.It As for the ads, it may be due to the theme I chose. I never did anything special in regards to the placement of the ads. I think there may be a way to hide the sidebar, and I think you have to disable it. If you go into the wordads section in the settings menu, I think it will have a yellow bar warning you about it. I’m no tech head but you may want to try that!

Michael, have you considered applying for grants to assist you with your productions and film-making? To win the awards you have to formulate the grant request in an innovative, challenging and engaging manner. I would assist you to formulate the request as a unique model of eonomic development and a unique model of socialization. I am Roman Catholic. In the Catholic Church there are hundreds of wealthy “order.” Many will provide grants and sponsorships for a landmark, precedent setting project. There is grant money available through the National Endowment for the Arts, from foundations, corporations and the private sector. You can conduct research on your own; or, you can send me your project abstract and I will research it for you. I will draft you a grant proposal to heelp you out if you need me to. I am willing to seed this into your life as a pro-bono gift from a sister who loves what you do. Peace be with you brother-man; and, stay strong.

  4. Thanks for the help, PJ. Right now I’m attending film school to learn more about the film making process, but I am readying a new short film mostly starring my fellow kung fu brothers and sisters. When I get further along I’ll get back to you!

    Always staying strong!
